WL. ‘The atcck market has not materia!'y changed its general character daring the past week. At this season we can- not lock for much activity or much firmasas in prices. So many speculates are absent fom their usaal haunts, that the want of raw material to operate oa is sufficient alone to caure dull times. Fancy stocks of the old school are only susteined by the abundant facilities for raising money. ‘They are held by parties who know it would be fatal’ to put them on the market in large quantities, in the ab- sence of outside speculators, snd they are therefore com- pelled to carry them from week to week, with the bopes that romethieg may turn up te enable th to slip out witheut loss. We do not see any margin for improvemen’ in the list of old fancies, Most of the.e feucy, unguarantied atocks, have been knocked stout the street, among the bulls and bears, for fe many years, that outside operators have become disgusted with them, do not exhibit any dis- position to touch them, either as buyers or sellers. They Lave become deeply interested in misivg stocks, and, as a geveral thing, have made a great deal of money, This class of stocks will he the favoritewhem the next «pecu- lative movement arises, and we expect to nee great prices reslized for such as are mow {osctive and neglected. The greateet activity prevails in the principal miving dis triets of the country, and results must seon be realized that will give a powerful impetus te this interest. It is yet but im its imfanoy. A few years will suffice to give it fmmenve strength; ultimately it is destined to overshs- dew all others, or rather, aay ether single estate of the Union.
