"There was avery beavy business transacted at the fmt board to-day, but prices were not very well sus- tained. It would be difficult to tell which was the mest prominent stock on the list to-day, when such aa active demand existed for all. , Florence and Keyport, Long Island, Niearagos with speculators, and a good man, hands. At the first board Nicaragna Transit ad- vanced j} percent; Parker Vein, 1}; New Jersey | ime, }; Long Island, 1. The bearsare hard | at work on Phoenix, and, for the purpose of depress- img prices, some one sold a little lot of five shares at @ decline of several per cent compared with priees ruling at the close of the second board | yesterday. The transactions at the second hoard to. | ay show (hat the stock is firmly held. The bulls in | Long Island are making some progress—much more than we expected. The downward movement in Brie Railroad to-day was caused by the appearance | were favorites shares changed wn the market of a good deal of hypothecated stock, | fom the hands of small wi eperators stepped forward bey taking every lot offered. The stock is now in bet- ter hands, and the probability is prices will here- after rule higher. We have no alteration to make in our quotatious. The New York and Harlem Railroad Company save declared a semi-annual dend on the old wock of two per cent. The Albany and Schenectady Railroad, four per cent. The Delaware and Raritan Canal and Camden and Amboy Railroad gives notice that an extra dividend of twelve doilars per share, ou the capital stock of the above companies, hus been declared, payable in ‘the bends of the companies, to the stockholders, or their legal representatives, on and «fier the first day ef March next, at the companies’ office, in Phila- @elphia. At Oswego alone, the article of sawed lumber entered there for 1850 was fifty millions; 1851, sixty-two millions; 1852, exceeded ninety millions. At Cape Vincent and Ogdensburg, this year, a large quantity of lumber was shipped, say at both points, tweuty millions.
