_ NEWS BY THE MAIL ‘Tremendous Kxcitement in Beston. ABREST AND SUBSEQUENT RESCUE OF 4 FUGITIVE LAVE—SUPREMACY OF A NE@RO MOB ‘trrom the Boston Traveller, Feb 15.) At about twelve o’clock this forenoon, an alleged fugitive oes, BB Bamed Shadrach, was arrested by the United States Marshal, at Taft’s Cornhill C fee House. The arrest was made without opposi- tion, The Privoner was conveyed to the United States en - petd Court bi ad where a crowd of spec- tators The werrent ea was aye by U. S. Commissioner G. T. Curtie, complaint of John Kupper, at- torney of Joba De Brey Purser of U.S. N., resid- ing at Norfolk. De Bree claims that Shadrach be- jones co him, and that fie escaped in 1849. The counsel for the defendant desired a post- ponement, upon the ground that time would be waated to get together evidence and prepare fora defense. The Commissioner said be was disposed to grant this. In the meantime, for the iatorma- tion of defendant’s counsel, the documents upon the warrant was issued were read by Seth J. Thomas, Eeq.. counsel for claimant. They consisted of various depositions taken before the United States Judge at Norfolk, to the effect that Shadrach was the true and lawful slave of John De Bree, and that he escaped on the 3d of May, 1850.
