Outsiders have, 0 yet, hardly got a taste of the feast spread out before them. The spirit of speculation is very strong, and is wapidly spreading. A carefal review of the past, and the prospect before us, must satisfy all, that there has ‘not been atime, within the previous five years, when the elements of prosperity have been in @ similar a1 ore healthy state than at the present moment. The difi- eulties which have for so many years surrounded the mumerous important politieal questions at issue be- ‘tween different sections of the Union, have been dis- persed, and we cannot see anything in the future, Ukely to occur, catculated to check, in the slightest degree, our onward progress. Gold aud silver are not so necessary for the redemption of the paper currency, as in times past’ and these wetals will, from this ti forth, enter more largely into general circalation, increasing the volume, while they will add to the value of the eirenlating medium. The security upon which a por- tien of our paper currency is based, is s0 good, and gives the bill bolder so much confidence, that gold amd hardly ever demanded in exchange.
