PHmapenraia, Oct. 21,1845. | ‘The natives have made @ last effort to retrieve them- and like drowning men catching at straws, they have proceeded to contest the election for the offices in the State House row. The desperation of their papers is furious, and in their insane ravings they do not hesitate to impute fraud of all sorts upon those of their political | friends as were so unfortunate as to be judges and in- spectors of elections. Some of the native papers will be | surprised to learn that they have done so, for they are in the habit of raving at random, but such isthe direct re- sult of their charges of election frauds. In all the parts in which those frauds are alleged to have beencom- | mitted, the natives had at least one inspector; inama- | jority of them they had both judge, inspector, and clerk, and in some of the wards the democratic party had not a single individual inside to see that justice was done them.
