The Most amusing scene at this time here, is the fight between the Reading Railroad Company and the Schuylkill Navigation Company. Some rich scenes will develope themselves in a short time between these two companies, as they are telling truths on one another. The Schuylkill Navigation Compa- ny wish to borrow $1,000,000 to widen their canal irom here to Pottsville, but the Reading Railroad Company think there is no necessity tor that, as they intend to bring to market coal enough to sup- ply the world. His great desire to eae news of the day was such, that he purchased the Herald, and went out on the end of the wharf, and stood in the rain to keep from public gaze, probably fearful that peo- ple might think be had just left Mr. Polk, since it 1s rumored that he is to compose a part of Mr. Polk’s cabinet.
