Domestic News, Lanor Fine in Cugisma.—This morning, about 2 o’clock, fire was discovered issuing from one of the buildings connected with the extensive Tannery cs ta iment on Margin street A > i. The fire communicating through the partition into the garret of the adjoining warehouse, occupied by Alexander Anderson, that also was partially destroyed, and Mr. A.’s stock of groceries much damaged ia the haste of removal, and by the waterfrom the engines. Thisis the se- cond time within a few years that Mr. A. has been a heavy loser by fire, and on both oveasions almost omthe same spot. He had nota dollar insured — Mr. Stone’s stock was insured, but not toan amount to cover his loss by ”.—Norfolk Herald, Dec. 5. We regret to learn that the old and popular bar keeper at the Merchants’ Exchange, known as ‘ Portuguese Joe,’ who lodged in the third story, was burnt to death, and that Mr John Taylor was seriously injured by jumping from the third story window —New Or- leans paper, Nov, 28. Rossers Convicrsp.— Richardson, the man who robbed the stage a few weeks since, in the vici- nity of Lexington, Ky., on its way to Cincinnati, of two trunks, belonging to the passengers, wason Monday the 23th ult. indicted by the grand jury, ar- raigned, and tried betore the petit jury, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to two years imprison- ment at hard labor in the penitentiary. More Coat.—It is said that bituminous coal has been found in Neweastle county, Del. The eounty from its name deserves few coal mines. And it would be a public benefit, as well as private emolu- ment to find bituminous coal so near navigable wa- ters.
