Letters from Dablin give the following account of the late difturbance in that city. That the minds of the People, as fuppoled, to prepare them for the French invafion, had been poiloned by their emiffaries with the notion of an union being intended between England and Irelend, that they were (o have no more Parlisments, were to be fubjatt to the fame taxes, &c. Upon this a mob of many thoufands breke into the Houle of Lords, infulted them, and would have burnt the Journals if they could have found them, el would have feated an old woman on the throne. Not content with this, they obliged all the Members of both Houles that they met in the ftreets, to take an oath that they would ne ver confent to fuch an union, or give any vote contrary : to the true intereft of Ireland. Many coachesof obnox- ions perfons were cut or broke, their horles killed, &c. Oane Geatleman. in particular, narrowly efcaped being hanged, a gallows being erected for that purpofe. The horfe and foot were drawn out on this occafion, but could not difperfe them till night ; and the day after, the addrefles to the Lord Licutenant were agreed to, and a committee of enquiry appointed. Dec. 25. Sir Bdward Hawke, with the greatelt Part of his Fleet, is srived at Plymouth. Altho’ Admiral Hawke has not taken any more of the French Ships, yet three of thofe that run into the River Villaine, are actually bilged, and incapable of any further Service. Thus the main Spring on which our Enemics molt fengaine Hopes depended, is effctu- ally broke.
