Davis, the United Press was inform- ed today on high authority. A final choice has not yet been made by the president, it is said Davis is not scheduled to retire un til about December 1 and his suc cessor may not be officially an- nounced until then. But the presi- | dent is quoted privately as having | narrowed the probabilities down to | Frey and William L. Hutcheson of Indianapolis, president of the car- penter's union, with the decision leaning slightly in Frey's favor, Frey 69 Years Old ! Frey is 69 years old. He has been | a labor educator for 24 years. Born at Mankato, Minn., February 24, 1871, he acted as editor of the Mold- | er’ Journal from 1903 until 1907. He was a lecturer on trade union- ism at the University of Chicago in 1907, president of the Ohio State Yederation of Labor from 1924 to 1928, and now is secretary and treasurer of the metal trades' de- partment of the federation, Davis has been nominated as re- publican senatorial candidate in Pennsylvania.
