SERATE EVIDENCE "HAY BE EXCLUDED Fall-Dobeny Defense Objects to - Data on $100,00 ‘Washington, Nov. 26 (@—The Fall-Doheny oll conspiracy trial was adjourned this afternoon until Monday morning with Justice Hoehling holding in abeyance his decision on the admissibility as evidence of the testimony taken in the senate oil inquiry. Washington, Nov. 26 (P—The de- tense in the¥Fa spiracy trial thrust repeatedly to- day at the very heart of the case government attorneys are trying to build up against Edward L. Doheny | and Albert B. Iall Not only did the defense attor- neys demand that the court exclude testimony given before the senate oil | committee, relied upon by the pros- ecution to show that $100,000 passed between the oil man and the then mecretary of the interior, but they made a smashing attack upon the whole government plan of cam- palgn, PLLSUVE FREED FROM CONSTIPATION Kellogg’s ALL-BRAN brought natural relief in a few weeks A remarkable, convincing tribute is paid Kellogg’s ALL-BRAN in this letter from Mr. . C. Aminsen, of Seattle: “I suffered with chronic constipation for many years and was compelled to use pills every night, hut since I got your Kellogg's ALL-BRAN it works fine. "1 would not be without it. I was so deathly sick of taking pills every night. Now it is &0 difterent. Kellogg's ALL-BRAN works so naturally and is pleasant to take.” F. C. AMiNgex, Eennyhole, Seattle, Washington. You can_get permanent relief from constipation with Kellogg's ALL-BRAN if eaten regularly. Two tablespoonfuls daily —or in chronic cases, with every meal. Doctors recommend it because it is ALL BRAN. It does a job only ALL-BRAN can do. Part-bran products may not do any good at all. Eat Kellogg’s ALL-BRAN with milk or cream. Use it in cooking. Try the recipes given on the pack- age. Kellogg’s ALL-BRAN is made by Kellogg in Battle Creek, Michi- gan. Served by the leading hotel and restaurants. Sold by grocers. The battle fleet, passsing through the canal will rendezvous with the:scout ing fleet in New York in May, 1927. After a short liberty period in New | York, the combined fleets will pro- ceed to carry out a war game in the Narragansett Bay area and along the Long Island shore. England naval reservists will have | their summer cruise in navy destroy- | ers of the scouting fleet as provided last year. In addition, the mid- | shipmen’s practice squadron from the naval academy will cruise along the New England coast, stopping at Marblehead, Mass, from June 16 to 19 of next year. There will be | no time during the cruising season of 1927 in which naval operations of interest will not be taking place off the coasts. Appropriattons for the |rcurrent ftiscal year contemplates an enlisted force of 82,500 men, 'and with the rising cost of the ration and other items of expense it is doubtful if available funds will be | sufficlent for that number to the | ena of the year. Tha force barely keeps ships supposed ‘to be in full commission in' service. Budget esti- mates for the next flseal year in their present form contémplates maintenance of an enlisted force or 80,750, which represents a theoreti- cal decrease of 1,750 men. The re- sult, however, may be a decrease of greater proportions, if costs of per- sonnel maintenanc: continue to mount. The new alrcraft carriers Lexington and Saratoga are to be ready for commission by next spring or next summer. Each of them will about 1,173 as ship crew and about 327 for aviation, or a total for the | | two ships of approximately 8,200 | men. This number added to the de- crease that will result from inade- quacy of funds will represent an en- listed deficlency of approximately 5,000 men. This situation will probably com- | pel naval authorities to place five | battleships of the scouting fleet, | which operate in the Atlantic, in re- | serve and remove their crews for| other duties afloat, thus in effect | reducing the capital ship strength | of the navy from 18 to 13, a serl- | ous reduction. { However, many vacancies still ex- | | ist, particuarly in skilled ratings, | | such as machinists mates, black-| smith boilermakers and pattern- | makers, and men who have qualified | | in those trades can be enlisted di- | rectly in ‘third class ratings at the | local recruiting station. | Young men having at least two | | years high school are desired by the | | navy to take the competitive exam- | | inations for the naval academy. | 100 men from the enlisted ranks of | the navy are appointed annually as | midshipmen at the United States | Naval Academy. Montreal, Nov. 26 (#—Represen- tatives of the Order of Railway Con- ductors and the Brotherhood of Rail- road Trainmen have ordered a walk- out of their members and of the yardmen of the rallroads of Canada unless they are given a six per cent increase in wages. The men have been déemanding pay commensurate with that given for similar work on the railroads of the United States. In all 15,000 men will carry out a “peaceful withdrawal” from their jobs unless a ‘“satisfactory settle- ment” of the wage dispute is reach- ed. The Brotherhood of Engineers is not affected by the decision of the conductors and trainmen to walk out. 8. N. Berry, senior vice-president of the Order of Railway Conductors, spokesman for the men, says no date has been decided for a general walk- out. An attempt was made recently to settle the dispute betweén the men in the railway companies through the medium of the federal department of labor. This met with failure and & ballot was taken by the men. This favored calling a strike. Tad Jones Does Not Want Yale in New Conference New Haven, Nov. 26 (®—T. A. D. Manufacturers who still cling to the 3 or 4 bear. ing crankshaft design know just as well as you do that the MODERN crankshaft has 7 bearings. And certainly with Nash setting the pace they are not likely to hold to the old style of design any longer than they are compelled to under their manufacturing conditions. The authority of Nash engineering submits to your own good judgment that the motor with a 3 or 4 bearidg crankshaft cannot be called a truly modern type of motor. A. G.
