NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1926. _—— Ao———ehoandma el o Through the Static Aamother excellent night to be chalked up in the credit side of the sheet. Intense volume, hot so mu static and a frightful buzz' during the early part of the evening were the features. This buzz made itself less bothersome as the night wore along, until it was back to its usual | station in the depths of the forest, where it contented itself with utter- ing loud yells at times in order to scare the little tots. CR Radio fans have certainly been in | the .glory for the past week, and | there's no kidding about it. There | has been deafening volume also been good. . < e Everything we mention here came in extra loud. Rest assured as to that. Everything, mark you, every- thing! At WIR, Pontiac, Goldkette's orchestra offered that draggy, smo8th number, “I've Found a New Baby," and a new one to us, “My Hero.” .« s A Special Armistice Day program was earried out at CNRO, Ottaw: At that station a symphony orche ra presented eral nations.“The M ed to France, was offered and “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” dedicated to the United States, was also played. By the w came in louder than any other num- ber we heard from the every | night and conditions, otherwise, have | the latter | monw “I'd Like to Sce That Old Sweetheart of Mine.” WLW came in loud shortly after 6 o'clock, but we heard the Melody Boys later. PREN We forgot to mention that we tuned in WHAS, Loulsville, at about 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, hearing several news bulletins for our trouble. After that an'instru- mental combination played several classics, There was considerable noise, too. P CFCA, Montreal, began its late | program with the pla)mg of “God Saye The King." This gave way to a classical recital, in which a violin and a piano were featured. One of the numbers was “Sonata in G Minor." . P If you could have seen the ease | with which we tuned in stationg last night, you would certainly agree with us that the night was perfect. The dlals fairly bristled with music and talks and we were literally greeted with something at every turn. The overlapping of stations, especially on the low waves, was ev- Ident, and slightfading made jtselt noticeable late in the evening. PR WCBD, Zion, with the undertaker- | announcer on the job, presented it- It at the front door and was royal- ly received. If we hadn't treated it {well, it would have broken down the barricade, such was the strength | station. | CNRO drowned out the usual group of stations, which clusters the 435-440 meter wavelengths. P At WTAM, early in the evening, | we heard a classical program which was deafening in its volume. Later in the evening, as we tuned in 2 an Apmistice Day program was der way and an Hon. Mr. Cavanaugh | ? was delivering an address. We didn’t remain. s . b The Melody Boys at WLW, cinpati offered’ in delightful Cin- har- Does Your Radio Buzz ? Radio reception at this time is real good. PR ‘WSCB, Chicago, with Jerry S\llll»‘ van at the microphone, matters down around 285 meters. Harry Baldwin offered two vocal solos, “It Made You Happy When You Made Me Cry” and ‘“Little White House” were the two num- | bers we eould stand. He sounded more like a girl than like a fellow. . .. Crashing through with all the volume of WNYC, WOAW, Omaha, proved to be a surprise. The Rose- land dance orchestra was the fea- tured band, and the station held a steady, powerful wave, fading not in |the least. Among the numbers we heard were “Pal of My (‘radle Da: witing For the Sunrise.” o s WRC, Washington, Swanee Syncopators music, “Cherie, I Love You” being featured. This station, heard very seldom by us, for some reason or other, was clear and steady. 0 offered the in loud dance Also heard were City; WBAL, Baltimore, and WLS, Chicago, of course.
