THOSTILLS TAKEN Y POLIGE RAIDERS Mopping Up Squad Bags Ap- paratns on Franklin Street Two stills, one of 20-gallon and the other of five-gallon capacity, with a jug containing about a half gallon of moonshine, were seized by the police in a rald on the tenement at 99 Franklin street occupled by George Dennis vesterday afternoon Besides making the seizure the po- lice destroyed a large quantity of mash Dennis had prepared for dis- tillation. \yhen arraigned before | Judge Benjamin W. Both men were arrested and Dennis was fined $10 and costs in police court Monday morning, while Willlams was fined $5 and costs. Willlams testified in court this morning that he had purchased moonshine of Dennls on several occaslons. Dennis claimed that he made the liquor for his own use, but on a few occaslons had given some of it to Willlams. He denled that Willlams had ever paid him for the liquor. The raid was mads by Detective Sergeants Willlam P. McCue and George C. Ellinger. Speeder Fined $20 Jullus Schultz of Shuttle Meadow avenue was fined $20 and costs on charges of speeding and operating without a llcense yesterday morn- ing on the avenue. He was arrested by Patrolman Fred Wagner, who in- vestigated an accident in which a machine driven by Schultz was in- volved between Linwood and Arch streets.
