TURMANIS BROKE, HE TELLS COURT Brooklyn Embezzler Asks That ‘He Be Given Lawyer —_— New York, Jan. 28, — Pleading poverty after having confessed to $1,300,000 of forgeries in his career of -hectic adventuring in realms- of finance, Moses Turman today asked that an attorney be appointed to represent his interests during prose- cution for second degree forgery. At Turman's request, hearing on an indictment returned last Wednes- day, the day he confessed, was ad- Journed until next Monday. Turman and his wife went direct- ly from Judge Koenig’s department of general sesslons to the district at- torney's office to resume classifica- tion of caicelled checks which it is hoped will disclose the state of his affairs. B. N, Koven, attorney, also went to the district attorney's office to ex- plain his dealings with Turman, which netted him $313,979 from the pseudo-financier fn a single year. Thus far Koven has maintained that the sum repreneutod the repayment of loans, and that Turman-still owes him $45,000, PONSELLE WILL BE HERE Manager for Musical Star Says New | Britain Has No Cause for Worry— | Few Dates Curtailed.
