FUNERAL SERVICE FOR . . DR, SAWYER AT MARION Remaink of President Harding's Per- sonal Physiclan Laid At Rest in Home Town By The Assoclated Press. Marion, Ohlo, Sept. 26.~Brigadier Goneral Charles E, Sawyer, personal physiclan to President Harding and medical adviser to the Harding fam- ily, will be buried in Marlon ceme- tery today, after brief exercises. Dr. Jesse Swank, pastor of Epworth M. £. church, ‘who had charge of the Harding services, will officlate at Whie Oaks, the Sawyer home, and at the grave. Mrs. Florence Kling Harding, the former chief executlve's widow, who has been making her home at White Oaks since Mr, Hard- ing's death, was present when Dr. Bawyer was found dead Tuesday in his office, of heart disease. Services today at both the flawyer Home and at the cemetery will be hrief and private in nature,*accord- ing to aunouncement. Burlal will be made in the Sawyer plot, not far from the Harding tomb. Marlon streets were thronged to- day with friends ot Dr. Bawyer, who have come from all over the coun- try for the funeral, which: probably will be held about 3:30 p. m, the services at the home having been set for 2:80 o'clock. Among those who will attend the funeral services are D, R. Crissinger, governor of the federal reserve board at Washington: former United States Senator Joseph Frelinghuysen of New Jersey, acting president of the Harding Memorial assoclation; Har- ry L. Davis, former governor of Ohio, and Harry M. Daugherty, for- mer attorney general. There will be representatives of the American Institute of Homeo- pathy.from Chicago, Cleveland and a delegation representing tne south. Dr, Sawyer was a former president of the institute. Mr. Crissinger, it was declared, is here simply as & friend and not in any capacity as an offielal represen- tative. Dr. Sawyer, who served for a time as medical advisor to President Cool- idge, after the death of Mr. Havrding, had been devoting all of his time to affairs of the Harding Memorial as- gociation, of which he was president, and it was believed that overwork in that endeavor hastened his end. The work of this class will be largely in- dividual, introducing projects in ap- plied design through the medium of Batik, leather tooling, weaving, ete. Emphasis will be placed upon the adaption of material at hand to the project. The cost of a project, therefore, will be almost entirely an individual matter, suited to the student’s pocketbook. There will be eight lessons at a very small price, so that no girl wanting such a coursé may feel ‘she cannot afford it. The art class anhd reed classes present a fine opportunity to make Christmag gifts. Red-Beauty Indians have their beauty shows just like the white fokk. But there was much wailing through western tepees this year. Those fair maidens with copper skins, who had fallen into the bobbed-hair ranks, were barred from the beauty pageant at the | Pendleton (Ore.) round-up. Even so, there were plenty of good-looking maidens, who hadn’t shorn their locks, on hand. Witness Esther Motanic (tribal namé White Fawn) of the‘ Umatillas. ! “DO IT NOW!” “Do ft Now!" Those three words form the short, sharp compelling command which reminds men that the mo- ments are slipping past—the hours, the days, the years. Do it now! Never will a better time present itself, for cach moment lost before action is taken is a moment that will never come again; 18 a moment which, had action been taken long ago, might have brougm benefit to you and to the world. The ring of the hammer in our store tells that we are Doing 1t Now; the sounds of unusual constructive activity echo the declaration. But the ring of the. hammer and the nolses of construction tell but half the tale, They speak of material improvements and alterations. They indicate that there will be greater attraction for the eye, increased convenience for the shopper when the work is done. But they do not begin even to suggest the underlying founda- tion of better values, better service, more intense thought that is being constructed for our whole establishment. We are proud of the values we have given-our patrons. We are ‘more proud still, that their expressed satisfaction has not blinded us to the fact that no man, no organization may stand still, content to rest upon laurels won. Lack of advancement means retrogression. Nothing, no one, stands still today, If the ever-present slogan be not “Progress,” then indeed, the canker of complacency will eat the heart, leaving but the shell ever menaced by fail- ure. We Do It Now, bringing every bit of up-to-the- minute knowledge we possess, the heritage of experience, to bear upon the ‘basie improvements we are making in New Britain's Greatest Value-Giving Store, materially and spiritually, We shall present to our patrons a far more —a—-—‘_‘_—‘ Rapldly Nearing Completion Is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER' 3§ 1924, NEW BRITAIN’S GREATER STORE All departments are stocked with full assortments of new Fall Merchandise and many special price inducements for Tomorrow, SAVINGS HERE ON THESE SATURDAY Notion Specials Mending Tissue, all colors 7c Howard’s Dustless Dusters 15¢.
