[==NEW BRITAIN HERALD [~ COST OF LIGHTING CITY MAY BE OVER $50,000 Increase From Present Price of §35,- 000 Anticipated—Change in System Proposed A special committtee on street lighting appointed some time ago under instructions of the common council is working on its report and . may recommend several important changes in the lighting ,system. Under the present plans /s cost of street lighting will jprobav®% be in- creased from $35,000 to more than $50,000 a year. It is planned to use 1,000 candle power lamps in place of the present arc light on the “white way,” and 100 candlé power lights , will probably be used instead of the present 80 candle power lights else- where. This will permit the placing of lights farther apart than hereto- fore. The city is now being served | under an extension of the five year| contract which expired several months ago.
