Liegey This Clty. | Chief Jonathan Eno of the federal prohibition enforcement squad and Captain W. Ellory Allen, chief field deputy internal revenue collector, made a hurried trip to Beckley Quap- ter, Berlin, yesterday to investigate a report made by Leon F. Liegey of 208 North street, this city, that 1,000 gal- lons of wine had leaked through a drain in the cellar floor of a farm- house in Beckley. Liegey, who is a real estate dealer here, stated in his monthly report to the internal revenue offjce, that the missing wine had been contained in a large barrel in the cellar and with a settling of the floor, the barrel had rolled and a bottom stave had broken and the wine had leaked out. The federal men made an inspec- tion of the premises with Mr. Leigey and looked over the barrels in the cellar. The place is not occupied by Mr. Liegey, but is rented. The owner, however, is one of the largest grape growers about these parts and had one of the largest wine factories in the state. There was no evidence, according to the government inspectors, that the wine had| soaked into the floor, but Mr. Liegey explained that there is a drain in the floor connected with a sewer and the wine flowed through that. The federal men will report the results of their investigations to Washington. of SPECIAL! ANOTHER Our $1.65 STARTS City lter;ls Hear “Do It Again,” snappy new dance record. C. L. Pierce & Co. —advt.
