Second Section NATIONAL FOREIGN TRADE GONVENTION Ways of Developing Markets for American Goods to Be Discussed Philadelphia, Pa., April 7.—Ways of developing foreign markets for American goods and setting {dle in- dustrial plants to work and ships in motion are among the subjects for discussion at the National Foreign Trade convention to be held here May 10, 11 and 12. Between four and five thousand delegates, representing the industrial, agricultural, commercial, financial and shipping interests of the nation, are expected to attend, Many of the government's foreign trade ad- visers, some of whom will come from their posts abroad, are on the pro- gram for addresses. “Greater Prosperity Through Groat- er Foreign Trade,” was the slogan sounded by James A. Farrell, presi- dent of the United States Steel Cor- poration ,in assuming the call for the convention, while “Financing and Fx- panding IForeign Trade' 'was an- nounced as the basic theme for the meeting. One of the big problems to be dis- cussed, it was stated, is how to sell abroad the estimated twenty per cent surplus of American production over domestic consumption. This, it was NEW BRITAIN HERALD asserted, spells the difference between prosperity for the American farmer, manufacturer, shipper and worker, and business stagnation andsunem- ployment. One of the general sessions will he devoted to questions relating to tax- ation and currency. The subject will include “The Effects of High Taxa- tion on the Exchanges,” ‘“The Factor of Depreciated Currency in Competi- tion,” and “Why We Must Have l'or- eign Trade.” Shipping questions will be taken up at another general session under the heads of “The Merchant Marine,” *“In- land waterways as Developers of Traffic,” ‘‘Shipbuilding Prospects,” and “Factors in Rate Fixing in Ma- rine Insurance.” Topics covering nearly every phase and angle of forcign trade from the viewpoint of the manufacturer, the shipper, the bankers, and the export- er and importer will be taken up at the group meectings. President Farrell will give his views on “A Foreign Trade Policy for Americans.” Believe It Now? If you've doubted that skirts are to he longer look at this. It was worn at the Auteuil races in France. That's where the latest and smartest styles are paraded. e SALTS FINE FOR ACHING KIDNEYS Eat less meat if you feel Backachy or Have Bladder Trouble Mcat forms uric acid which excites and overworks the kidneys in their efforts to filter if from the system.
