Under such circumstances it would be foolish to expect success. “The all-important uueauon today is to settle our domestic strife. When peace and order are festored, foreign- appointed guardian over her, will ex- wploda itself. “If all this can,be accomplished before the Pacific conference, we are not without a ray of hope. If, how- ever, we indulge in continual civil strife between one province and an- other we are simply furnishing evi- dence to prove the truth of the Jap- anese contention. “For the peace of the Far East and the interests of their nationals for- eign powers cannot but approve the internationalization of China and it is perhaps not unlikely that they will charge Japan with the task of over- seeing us. When this happens our sovereignty will be completely lost and what favor can we expect from the powers when we set forth all our evi- dence and records before them to support cur case? “Let both the people and the gov- ernment work to avoid this eventual- ity.”” PLAN ANNUAL CONTESTS Universities of California and Illinois to Arrange For Football Games and Track Meets in 1922. Brekeley, Cal, Oct. 25.—Arrange- menta are being made for annual con- testd between University of California and University of Mlinois track and foothall teams, Graduate Manager Lu- ther Nichols of California announced ers in_sur midst will not suffer from occasional disturbances and their min- isters and governments, China still has the ability to maintain order, will naturally treat us with re- spect, and the Japanese propaganda that China has not the necessary ca- pacity: to protect foreign property and that Japan .should be hera recently. Present plans call for trips to Cal- seeing that | ifornia in 1922 by the Illinois track and football teams and for return visits in 1922 by the California ath- letes. Baseball games may be arrang- ed late. Mr. Nichols said he thought the pro- gram would be adopted. lite and OFFERINGS Men’s: Shn-ts, regular price $2. 00 at....$1.00 Men’s - Union Suits, regu}a,r price $2 50 . 2 suits for.: Mens Flannel Shirts, reg'uiar price $2 00 Pl R Men’s# Men$sl‘ All Woo%gse, sflk clock, regular gnce Men’s Caps, regular pnce $1.50, at Men’s Overalls, regular price $1 50, at. .$1.00 Men’'s Lisle Hose regular pnce 350 5 pairs 3 for ....... $1.00 Men’sSilk Hose, regular price $1 00, 2 pair f $1.00 Boys’ Caps, regular price $150 at BoystGotton Blouses, regular price $1.50, \ = - SPECIALS ON CLOTHING Wednesday Even Dollar Day Lot No. 1—Men’s Overecoats, regular price $18.00, at $10.00 Lot No. 2" Men’s Overcoats ,regular price $35.00, at $20.00 Lot No. 3—Men’s Overcoats, regular price $45,00,at . ...
