Dec. 3.—With police officials of many cities on the lookout, Ardmore authorities today awaited » WOrd of the arrest ot Miss Clara Smith o! Ringling Okla,, sought in connec- tion with the fatal shooting of Jake l. Hamon republican national com- mitteeman of Oklahoma. Interest in the case was ‘divided here today between the search for Miss Smith and the purpuse of a visit to Texas by Frank L. Washington, Dec. 3.—The people of Porto Rico, benefitting from a wave of prosperity which overspread the territory during the last fiscal year, were better fed and better clothed history, Arthur Yager, territorial gov- ernor, declares in his annual report made public today. “The general prosperity of the island,” Governor Yager asserts, “has included every farm of business with the possible exception of the citrus fruit growers, who were unfortunately gravely injured by the tieup of boats of October and November due to the strike of the stevedores in New York Exports of the island were placed by the governor at $150,811,449, an increase of about 90 per cent over that of the year previous. The island’s im- | ports also broke all previous records, reaching a total of $96,388,534. The greatest part of the increase in the value of exports is said by the governor to have been due to the un- precedented high prices received for sugar.
