Wed. “With the convening of the league of nations,” he conwnues “the North American people soon will realize it s no thinkers and no national or in- ternational policy acceptable before the world. It is not enough to say ‘America is mine’ Japan could say 'China is mine.’ England could say h-\lr the world is mine.’ France<could proclaim that Switzerland and Bel- glum belong to her. “With the existence of the league of nations the North American pro- tectorate over South American coun- tries is needed less than ever. Argen- tinism is an expression of the universal political desire to form a democratic league of nations. Monroelsm is a grave imperiallsm which no mon- archial form of government would dare to proclaim, and the more so because of its impotency to put it into practice. “North America went into the war for the liberty of the seas but ob- tained the opposite result. It went into war to achieve the self-determination of peoples but it has contracted itself. It pursues a policy of aggrandisement and marches to its decadence, unless it halts In time. And all this for lack of thinking."
