(Corvespondence of the Associated Press.) ‘Tokio, June = 18.—Simultaneously with the celebration of the fifteenth birthday anniversary of the Crown Prin¢e the publi¢c has been greatly in- terested and pleased with an an- nouncement frém the Imperial palace that the Empress expects to give bifth to another heir in the autumn. The cdéming of this event about the time of the coronation at Kyoto will prob- £bly prevent the Empress from tak- ing part in the ceremonies. The Emperor and Empress have thres children—all boys. RUBI steamer Turnwell steamed ‘into’ pert after having surrendered to a Ger- man submarine, the crew of which had exploded bombs in her held, The escape of the steamer was due to the fact that the submarine eager to sink another steamer did not.re- main by the Turnwell long enough to make sure of the effectiveness of the bombs. The Turnwell, which is a vessel of 4,264 tons, left Liverpool June 15, for Neéw York. She was overhauled by the submarine thirty miles off the Pembrokeshire coast Wednesday morning and her crew ordered to take to their boats The Germans boarded the Turnwell exploded the bombs and then hur- riedly put off from her having sighted the British ' codsting steamer Traf- ford, a vessel of 234 tons, which they pursued and sank. The Turnwel's crew then returned to their ship and plugged the holes made by the bombs as best they could, started the pumps and made all possible speed for the nearest port. On the way the Turn- well picked up the ¢rew of the Traf- ford. Some of the men of the Turnwell said that although the Germans were in a great hurry, they tarried long enough on board the steamer to ran- sack the cabins and take away every- thing valuable. 135 Main Street, Barnes’ Block AVIATOR BY FALL OF AEROPLANE Tdeut.
