They fought hard and the bout was satisfactory. The preliminary bout between Pete Doty and Frank Brindisi, both of this city, resulted in a draw: Doty has red hair and is near-sighted, so he is not a good judge' of distance, his eyes and ‘not his hair having an ef: fect upon distance. New Yofl( June 18.—Harvard and Princeton will entertain: New York's baseball following at the Polo Grounds this afternoon. Though beaten by Yale on Wednesday the ‘Princeton nine was not disgraced. Many who witnessed that game are of the opinion that the Tigers are cap.- able of giving any intercollegiate éhemy a fight to the finish. Prince- ton, which usually stands at the head of the baseball class ‘afhong the big eastern universities, has some scores to settle with Johnny Harvard this afternoon. To the Orange and Black this game is even more important then the one dropped to Yale after a strubborn fight. Provision was made for today’s col- lege pastime at the Polo . Grounds through the. courtesy of the American league, which gave its consent to the doubling of two of the scheduled games between the Cleveland and lo- cal American League clubs. The battle between the Yankees and Cleve- land originally set for this afternoon will be played off as part of a double header tomorrow. FIGHT FILMS TO BE DESTROYED. The 3,542 feet of film depicting the Ritchie_-Welsh fight 'in London in July, 1914, is to be destroyed by the federal authorities in accordance with an order issued by Judge Hough in iy - the United States district court yes- terday. The film was brought over shortly afier the fight by George Considine, but was held up by the federal aus thorities on thé ground that its im- portation was a viclation of the Simg law prohibiting the bringing into the country o6r thé transportation in in- térstate commeércd of any film depict- ing a prizefight or a pusilistic en- counter. The attorney for Mr. Considing tried to convince Judge Hough that the Ritchie-Welsh figfiht was mersly a boxing match, and as such was not covered by the Sims law. Judge Hough ruled that the match was both a pugilistic encounter and a prize- fight. ‘WELSH-LUSTIG FIGHT. Will Meet at Ebbets Field in Prelim- inary to Cross-Dundee Fight. New York, June 18.—Freddie ‘Welsh, lightweight champion of the world, will be the chief attraction at the fistic earnival tonight at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn. Welsh, who has had time to recover from the slump which marked his latest battles here, will meet Johnny Lustig of New York, who gave him a tough battle in Mon- treal a few months ago. Another headliner will be the meet- ing of Leach Cross and Johnny Dun- dee. Both have plenty of admirers and though the ‘battle may not be as scientific as the bout in which Welsh is a factor it is sure to be a fast and hard hitting encounter. In the opening bout Gus Foulis will mix it with Marty Cross, a brother of Leach. e e ALL advertisements for the classified column must be in the Herald office by 1:30 p. m. on the day of issue LOST.
