Breitung, capitalist, Mich., and his wife by Klei their son-in-law vesterday by Federal Kleist charged his par alienating his wife's affections. The suit was dismissed after the evidence was all in. In dismissing it, Judge Hough read a long opinion in which he said the parents were in no way obliged to accept the conduct of a son-in-law The court ruled that Kleist had failed to prove any im- proper act on the part of the de- | fendants in their treatment of their child. Klelst's attorney announced that he would appeal. Klelst and Miss Breitung were married in No- vember, 1913. Prior to that Kleist had been a coachman employed by a neighbor of Mr. Breitung in Mar- quette, Mich. “This case presents an opportunity,” said Judge Hough in his opinion ¢ missing the case, ““to put in practic a theory of law which will minim the sordid demands for litigation of this kind. Parents are not respon- sible for lack of affection, nor are they responsible for an abundance of affection for them which might out- welgh the affection the child might have fer the spousc. “No parent is bound, in fear of a suit, to approve his child’s marriage, or to close his house to his own child or admit to that house the consort, male or female, chosen by his child. It is my opinion that the parents in thig situation axr not subject to criticism by either judge or jury. T fail to see any act done by the de- fendants injurious to the plaintiff or actuated by any other motives than proper rcgard for their daughter." Bctler Babie: The crusade for better babies has spread from coast to coast and taken firm hold of American Mothers. Few women realize how much the ill health of the mother influences the unborn child, both physically and mentally. Women who suffer from mysterious pains, backache, nervous- ness, mental depression, headaches, etc., should rely on Lydia E. Pink- ham’s Vegetable Compound, made from roots and herbs, which for near- ly forty vears has been the standard remedy for these troubles.—adv To the Board of f‘ountv Commission- ers for Hartford County.
