(J ) / Braves’ Chances for Bunting i MANAGER STALLINGS % Boston, April 15.—Will the “Braves” walk away with the Naticnal league flag this year? It would seem that the team which battered down all oppo- _dition last year, strengthened by the dequisition of Sherwood Magee, former Philly slugger, would have a ¢omparative cinch in copping the gonfalon, but there are those who think the Braves will not even be in the running. Seven managers in the National league are firmly of that oplmon George Stallings is the only the | | manager who does not agree with {them. George has already dispensed { with the formality of copping the flag and is guring on his team’s chances {in the 1915 world’s series. George . says that, while he expects greater op- position this season as a result of the strengthening of the other teams, he does not think that any one team has been sufficiently strengthened to in- ,terfere seriously with his team’s chances. And the other seven mana- gers in the league answer in chorus, “‘we shall see.” The_Usual Big Saturday Sale at The GREAT WESTERN MARKET THE QU ‘\L‘ITY STORE OF Fancy Lamb Stew. The department immediately noti- fied Consul Silliman at Vera Cruz to urge the Carranza authorities to co- operate in clearing the railroad to the | K Mexican capital for the shipment of | supplies. Traffic Interrupted. Reports do not indicate, Secretary Bryan stated, that the railroad is out of order but military activities have interrupted traffic to such an extent as to make ‘the problem of securing food serious. Meagre advices to the Car- ranza agency from Vera Cruz said that Obregon, in reporting a decisive victory over the Villa forces, claimed to have captured 2,500 prisoners and focrteen cannon, He added that he was in pursuit of the enemy. 5,000 Troops Killed. Unofficial advices from Vera Cruz ! said that Obregon reported that 5,000 } Villa troops had been killed and that 6,000 prisoners and forty field pieces taken. Affidavits have been received by diplomatic representatives here from the international commission of Mexico City, which in many cases have been confirmed by previous ad- vices received, alleging the existence of conditions of anarchy in Mexico City and reciting specific instances of abuse of foreigners there.
