Falkner has return- ed home after a pleasant visit with relatives at Perry. She was accompanied home by her niece, Miss Julia Calhoun, who will be her guest for two or three weeks. Mrs. AT E. Mrs. Charles Conner and Charles Jr. returned yesterday after a most delightful summer spent in Tennessee, with rela- tives and friends, and are being cordially welcomed by their many friends who are delighted to have them back in Lakeland. Mrs. C. A. Cole will reach the city this afternoon after a stay of three months in the north, having spent the summer most pleasantly at various resorts on the Great Lakes as is her annual custom. She was preceded about three weeks ago by Mr. Cole, who spent the summer with her. Mr. Pat Murphy, of State- wide fame, is a prominent visi- tor to the city. He takes time to talk interestingly of State politics while soliciting business for his Railroad Guide. Mr. Murphy has a host of friends all over the State, and he is always cordially welcomed wherever he stops and hangs up his hat. Miss Coraine Patterson left last night for DeFuniak, where she goes to teach in a private school at that place. Miss Patterson graduated from the Woman's college at Tallahassee in June C. L. The rooms were beautifclly dec- orated with ferns, evergrecns, and cut flowers, and proved a delightful place for entertaining the forty or more gnests present. After the members had arrived, a short busi- ness session was held, Mr. Grover Williamson, in the chair. As Mr. Hardin Peterson, the president of the league, has gone to Washington, ; D. B. Spence demonstrated so successfully his ability in this line that he car- ried off the prize, an immense stick of candy. Refreshments were then daintily served by the charming hos- tesses, and after a few more games and music the leaguers departed, as- suring Misses Layton and Brooks that they had spent a most delight- i ful evening. Mr. Verigan Weds Miss Lillian Conner Miss Lillian Conner, of Tangerine, a pupil of the Cathedral school, and an expected member of the coming eraduating class, gave a great sur- ‘prise to her friends by breaking the bonds of matrimony. On Saturday evening, Sept. 12, accompanied by her mother and Mr. Lester W. Ver- igan, of Lakeland, and carrying a marriage license from the Orange county court, a visit was made to the principal of the Cathedral school, who, after he had recovered from his astonishment, tied the nuptial knot.
