Also following Luther in his em- phasis placed on good, sound teaching of God’s Word to young and old alike, the members of Grace Lutheran congregation have established a Christian Day School where children are taught, not only the secular subjects, but also the Word of God and where this Word of God rules supreme in every phase of life throughout the day. School Activity Mr, Donald Sagehorn, a gradu- ate of River Forest Teachers Col- Jege (Lutheran) in Chicago, Illinois, and formerly a teacher in a Luth- eran School in Hammond, Indiana, has been serving Grace Lutheran Chureh as teacher for grades two and three in the Christian Day School and also as principal of the school. The enrollment in this agency for Christian education numbers near- ly a hundred children in junior and senior kindergarten classes and in grades one, two, and three. Grace Lutheran Church in Key West proudly bears the name of God’s great servant, Martin Luth-/ er, and still stands for those prin- ciples and truths which he redis- covered for the Christian Church. With Luther we say, as he has written in one of his hymns: “Lord, Keep us steadfast in Thy Word.” For a schedule of services ‘as held at Grace Lutheran Church see the Church notice in this paper. Church Of Roek Will Mark Reformation Sunday, Oet.31 Reformation Sunday is a signi-~ ficant day in the Protestant Church. | At the Church of the Rock, 535 Francis Street, special emphasis will be placed on the effect of in- dividual thinking and actions as provided in the written Word. Our cherished American priv- leges of freedom of speech and worship is the direct result of fear- less and conscientious men such | as Martin Luther and John Calvin. Savonarola, a Dominican monk, had written a fract on the 5ist Psalm while he was in prison just before his martyrdom. Luther pub- lished with this tract a commen- datory preface. Progress In Religion He was. also influenced by the sermons of John Huss which led him to develop his views of reform. Progress in religion has been the result of these individual thinkers who were bold enough to declare their views to the public. Like all pioneers in both religion. and science, they suffered at the hands of entrenched authorities, Truth crushed to earth will rise again. The sermon topic chosen by the Rev.-Ralph Rogers for the Sun- day morning service will be, “Dan- gerous Convictions.” Two Services Mrs. Mary Tichenor will be at. God's Infinite Love Redeems How God’s infinite love for man rédeems man from sin by destroy- | ing sin and revealing man’s divine, | sinless nature, will be explained | at Christian Science services to-| morrow. The Lesson - Sermon s| entitled “Everlasting Punishment.” | Among the passages from the Bible will be read the story of the | Prodigal Son, including his for- | Siveness and his welcome back to his father’s house, as told in Chap- ter 15 of Luke’s gospel. Reading Announced The following selection on the overcoming ‘of sin will be read from “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy. (327: 9 - 13): | “Evil is sometimes a man’s high- est conception of right, until his grasp on good grows stronger. Then he loses pleasure in wicked- ness, and it becomes his torment. | The way to escape the misery of | |sin is to cease sinning. There is no other way.” ;: | The Golden Text is from Psalms (130:7): “Let Israel hope in the |Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.” Nothing great was ever achiev- ed without enthusiasm. —Emerson. a A grain of gaiety seasons every- | | thing. ‘ | 1 ~ —Gracian. Who will return in glory on the last day to judge the world in righteousness; 10—in the midst of insecurity and amid the false hopes of this present time, the living Christ is the sure Hope of all such as believe and trust in Him.
