Society — Personals — News Of Interest To Women ITEMS OF INTEREST TO EVERYONE SUE JONES, Editor “Gay 90's” Party Friday Night Is Huge Success An old fashioned tandem bicycle careening through the crowd as Scott Terrill and R. H. Robeson, his “feminine” companion sang “On a Bicycle Built for Two” was the featured act at the “Gay Nineties” pool party held by the Naval Annex Officers’ Wives group at the Seaplane Base pool on Fri- day night. Also on the program was a “barber shop quartet” singing old favorites and leading the guests in an old time community sing. Most of the guests turned out for the affair in authentic costumes designed and made by the partic- ipants. Some of them proved greatly Amusing and the judges had a difficult time deciding on the most appropriate costumes. Their final decision was that Bill Farber’s typical old time bar- tender and Moyde Lovejoy’s “femme fatale’ get up were the most outstanding costumes. Scott Terrill was the winner of the door prize. A short business meeting fallow- ed and the hostess committee was commended for the wonderful picnic-buffet. Serving on the com- mittee were Mrs. John Hammerlee, Mrs. Billy Fairlee, Mrs. Jim Vlach and Mrs. S. W. Griffin. Hostesses chosen for the Octo- ber 12 meeting were Mrs. Ping Terrill, Mrs. Kay Kidd, Mrs. Jeanette Allen, and Mrs. Fran Loeblick. The time and place of the Octo- ber meeting will be announced later, Sorority Chapter Reveals Service Project Slogan “He who gives a child a treat will surely walk on Heaven’s Street” is the slogan for the Ex- emplars’ newly announced year’s service project “The Joy,” for un- der privileged children’s fund. For the past several years Be- ta Sigma Phi in our city has aided those children needing the “‘ex- tras” that bring joy to a_ little child. The Exemplar Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi has*taken as one of its year’s service projects the expansion of work previously done. This group intends to work toward a fund that will meet the ‘basic necessity in all elementary schools in our city in grades 1 through 6. Aid to these classes will be as fol- lows: A teacher will be selected in each elementary school to whom other teachers in each school will report the individual pupils’ screened needs.
