The wedding took place on Sep- tember 10 at 6 o’clock in the even- ing at the Naval Station Chapel with Chaplain W. Lane officiating at the double ring ceremony. The bride, who was given in mar- riage by her mother, wore a smart- ly tailored white linen suit with matching accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations. Miss Peggy McCrea, her only at- tendant, wore a Navy blue linen suit with white accessories and a pink carnation corsage. Ralph E. Cline, USN, was best man for the groom. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Marsh chose a Navy blue suit worn with white accessories and her carnation corsage was pink. Practical Nurses Meet Thursday The Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Florida, Sub-division 9 of Key West, held their regular monthly meeting in.the library of the Monroe .County Gen tal on Thursday night -at 7:30. Irene Taylor, first vice-preside: presided in.the absence of the president, Delores Niles, who is ill. Minutes of the previous meeting were ready by. the. secretary, Mrs. Elizabeth ‘ Stuerts. Miss Louise Allen was accepted as a new member. Members were encouraged to Plan. to. attend ‘the fourth annual convention of the Licensed Prac- tical Nurses Associaton of Florida in Miami’ on September. 19, 20 and 21 Convention headquarters will be at the McAllister Hotel. The next meeting of the group will be held on October 7. Byron Sher To Teach At Harvard Law School Byron D. Sher of 57 Charles- brook Road, Newton, Mass. is 2 Teaching Fellow at the Harvard Law School this year. He was born in St. Louis, Mis- souri and received his B. S. degree from Washington University and the LL. B. degree from Harvard magne eum laude in 1952. At Harvard Mr. Sher was an editur of the Harvard Law Re- view. For the past two yea:s he has been associated with the Bos- ton firm of Mintz, Levin & Cohn. Mr. Sher is-married to the form- er Miss Linda Bowser, daughter of Captain and Mrs. Frank E. Bow- ser. West High School in June and was a member of the USO-YMCA where she served as a Junior Hostess. Her husband is in the U. S. Navy stationed aboard the carrier, USS Tarawa. The young couple left immediate- ly after the ceremony for East St. Louis. Mrs. Gilbreath traveled in a Navy blue linen suit with white accessories. ITEMS OF INTEREST TO EVERYONE Ladies Of Knights Meet At Park The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies of the Knights was he'd last Tuesday morning at Bayview Park. Some of the members brought their children and coffee and doughnuts were served by the host- ess, Marie Halpin. Plans for the luncheon held at Raul’s restaurant were discussed, and two new officers were elected to the places of Josephine Hull, vice president and Joan Shisler, secretary, who have resigned. The new officers are Lois Crean, vice president and Jeannette Da- vis, secretary. Two new members, Mrs. Pat Currie and Mrs. Gloria Mehrmann were welcomed into the club at the meeting. “Back-to-School” Theme For Jr.-Sr. PTA M eeting The regular meeting of the Jr.- Sr. High School Parent Teacher | Association will be Tuesday, Sep- tember 21 at 7:45 p.m. at the school auditorium. This will be the first business meeting of the new school year. The program for the evening will be, “Back to School.” This will be an opportunity for parents to go through a complete schedule of the day of their child and be- come acquainted with individual teacher of each subject. The program is designed to help parents realize their child’s day at school. Parents are asked to plan to be present and to join the PTA as an active member. Membership in the Parent- Teachers Association represents a privilege, an opportunity and an obligation for all who have close ties with children and have their | welfare at heart. | Parents owe it to their children, to the community, and to them- selves to be a member.
