Governor NEW YORK — Four of New York State’s leading Democrats have formally endorsed Averell Harriman for the party’s nomina- tion for governor. All may not be clear sailing for the millionaire New ‘Deal - Fair Deal stalwart, however, because some powerful backers of Rep. Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. threat- en a floor fight at the Democratic State Convention. But the leaders’ endorsement probably has assured Harriman of a majority of the delegates.
