Auxiliary of Post 9011 held its regular meeting with president Leah Wood presiding, on August 24, Before business, Bob Youmans, chairman of the emergency March of Dimes was introduced and pre- sented with a check from the auxi- liary and the VFW post. Drive chairman for the VFW was Commander Machin and~the auxi- liary’s chairman was -Mrs. Eula Sawyer. The check was from the proceeds from the benefit roast beef sup- ‘ per and was for $148.09. Mr. Youmans was amazed that a eupper could bring in that much. The Auxiliary and VFW take this opportunity to thank those who at- tended and made the benefit so successful. After Comnmiander Machin and Mr. Youmans left the room busi- ness at hand was taken up. * Due to illness, Mrs. Aritas, re- signed as hospital chairman. Japan has 2,800,000 tons of mer- chant shipping — “about half her prewar tonnage, CITIZEN ADS BRING RESULTS 7TH CAVALRY SHIFTS LOCATION SAPPORO, Japan # — The U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment has been shifted from Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island, to the main island of Honshu, the Army said today. The shift is part of a scheduled move of the U.S. ist Cavalry Division from Hokkaido.
