SOCLETY — PERSONALS — NEWS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN SUE JONES, Editor THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Friday, August 13, 1954 Some time ago, Wally Cox ap- peared in an obscure spot on radio show, and yours truly was fortunate enough to have heard it, Have never forgotten it—was that good, Seems as if he told the story of a fictional character by the name of “Duffalo”’ or perhaps it was “Doofoe’’. Anyway, this lad had a series of horrible misadventures—and after each one, the line—‘‘But that Dufo —always smiling’”—and then would begin another in the long line of catastrophes. It was truly one of the most hu- man and hilarious sketches—and of course, Wally Cox has since achieved fame—with the same type humor he uses’as “Mr. Peepers” of TV. And so it is that yours truly seems to be “always smiling” in print, but gosh, the shops are so wonderful and the people so swell| —how can one be other than cheer- ful? Also—it is always an especial joy, when covering the buying beat —to just sit and observe the great ititerest—the courtesy and most important—the time taken with each and every customer—regard- less of the size of purchase—or, for that matter—if they buy at all. ‘Tis really wonderful! And—so, won’t you pull up the other chair (my shops seem to be always equipped with at least two arrangements for sitting down)— and watch with me—and see that truly—there is no need to leave} Our ‘sie sho) Just ¢ ‘t aed wine sus- pense and had to peek at some of the items selling for FIFTY CENTS found in the Grab Bag at the Gift House which is dia- gonally across from the Post Of- fice, .
