A sensational new fashion in 708 Duval Sireet Tel. 2-8611 AND THOMPSON HARDWARE Caroline and Grinnell Streets COBO STRONGLY (Continued from Page One) would only use one part in a mil- lion, The amount of fluorine that would-be put in the water supply -would only be one, two hundred and fiftieth of a drop in five gal- lons of water, Cobo stated. Overdesing Question When questioned on the possib'e overdosing of the water, Cobo said that it would be virtually impos- sible to put too much fluorine in the water. Many tons of fluorine would have to be put in the water supply over a short period of time, Cobo said. For the sabotaging of the wa- ter by overdosing the water, Cobo said that there are many better ways for saboteurs to poison the water supply. When ‘asked why the Dental As- sociation was recommending the fluorine to be put in the water, Cobo said that with the present rate of tooth decay, everyone will soon have to be a dentist. In explaining that some opposi- tion had been expressed, he said, “Newspapermen are not chemists or scientists. Fluorine comes to us well recommended. Not one scien- tific group has come out against th measure.” Cost Would Be $7,000 When questioned on what it cost, Cobo said that about $7,000 would be required to buy and install the machinery at the water source in Florida City. “The public health department would bear the cost,” he said. The Navy would pay the cost of having a man to oversee the mix- ing equipment, it was explained. “1 “is discussion of the opposi- tion to the plan, Cobo compared ue p.eseut opponents of fluorida- tion to the opponents of Gamma Globulin in this city during the po- lio epidemic. In explaining why children can’t take a drink of water for two hours after getting dental office fluoride treatment to teeth, Cobo said that the water would wash the fluoride away before it could do any good. To the question of why peopie should be necessarily subjected to fluotidation when they didn’t de- sire or want its use, he answered that the question is one that has not been decided upon. Jaycees To Take Stand The Jaycees will take a stand when the fluoride question has been heard about both pro and con. In other business conducted at the meeting, the members decided to sell the scotch-lite tape at the entrance to the Drive-In Theatre on Monday night. The reflector tape is put on car bumpers as a safety measure. The price of tickets to the Jay- cee sponsored March of Dimes dance to be held at the Casa Ma- Tina on August 28th was voted on. Plans were made at the meet- ing for a parade down Duval St. with a police escort f pt the comic will be dressed as women, COUNTY BOARD (Continuea From Page One) executives would study the memo and again discuss the matter with the commissioners. Gerald Saunders, chairman of the board of county commission- ers, told the group he and the other commissioners would like the matter of airport fees settled by Sept. 1. The proposed improvements as described by Wilde include a new, air-conditioned terminal building and lengthened, widened, lighted and paved runways. Looking to the future, Hary asked the commissioners how they felt about two daily flights to Key West by a Convair, a 44-passen- Hardy said there could be one Convair flight in the morning and another after dark in the evening when the field was lighted. The commissioners agreed that this would be more convenient for mi and Ki lest. This cancellation of two flights, | coming at the height of the winter season, brought a howl from Key West businessmen, particularly motel and hotel operators. Mid-April Action prexy, and the two flights were re- scheduled in mid April. The proposed improvements in- clude paved taxiways, ramps, rut- ways, lights, and a new terminal building with a control tower. Dionne Inquest To Be Reopened ST. JEROME, Que. (#—Canadian authorities will reopen the inquest into the death of quintuplet Emilie Dionne on Aug. 19, but a morgue formality” for official purposes. ‘The inquest, begun after the 20- year-old girl died last Friday, was adjourned to await the findings of an autopsy performed last Satur-| £5, day in Montreal. Dr. Rosario Fontaine, provincial medico-legal expert, said Emilie suffocated while stricken by one of a series of epileptic seizures. He said she probably smothered in her pillow or bedclothes, but it was possible her lungs failed after a long series of epileptic strokes. Emilie died at a Roman Catholic hostel in nearby St. Agathe, Que. THREE BANDITS (Continued From Page One) Mrs. Margaret Sweider and Mrs. Bernadine Westcamp. None of them was injured. B. Beall Sasscer, assistant cash- ier at the main office in Upper Marlboro, Md., said about half of the cash had been sent to the bank by registered mail last night. It was picked up at the air base post office a half hour before the robbery. Alarm Broadcast Maryland state police broadcast an alarm for the gunmen with these descriptions: One was tall, wearing a gray, rayon jacket and blue slacks. The second was short with a brown tween jacket and sun glasses. They were unable to give a description of the third man. The bank is not equipped with a burglar alarm and has no armed guard on duty during banking hours. The branch occupies half of a cement building on Texas Ave- nue across the street from base headquarters Sasscer said the needs of the base finance officer for ready cash required the bank to keep large sums of money on hand. Release System The employes freed themselves by means of a release installed in- side the vault for that purpose. One of the bandits was reported to have been armed with a German Luger pistol. All six main exit gates from the air base were immediately locked by air police. Prince George Coun- ty police and FBI agents set up road blocks in the area. The Friday the 13th holdup was the first big bank robbery in Mary- land since a branch bank in Bal- timore was robbed of $30,000 last April Fool’s Day. It was the third bank robbery on a military base in recent months. The Ft. Meade branch bank was robbed of $20,000 March 20, 1053, and again of $40,000 the following December 22. Ex-Conviect Dons | Wrong Uniform PHOENIX, Ariz. @® — An ex- convict, turned down by the Air Force because of his prison rec- ord, finally got into uniform — as a flying colonel. But Jack Kenneth Brown, 24, is now under arrest, charged with impersonating an officer and ille- gally wearing an Air Force uni- rm. The FBI said he turned up at nearby Williams Air Force Base July 28 and presented flying cre- dentials and officer rank, identify- ing himself as Col. Jerome Leslie Regis. After his arrest Wednesday, the FBI said, he admitted he was Brown and had been released last May from a federal prison in Indiana. The officers reported he once had tried to enlist in the Air Force but had been turned down because of his prison background. POLICE SEEK CLUE (Continued from Page One) yesterday after she failed to re- turn from a ride to get,the mail. Near the scene, deputies found the girl’s bicycle, her spectacles and scattered pieces of the mail she had brought from the box. Dr. Paul Hohly, Lucas County | coroner, performed an autopsy on the body last night and determined that the girl had been raped. Mary Jolene had been staying for a few days with an aunt, Mrs. Mary Bond, whose son, George, was the girl’s legal guardian. When the girl didn’t return for several hours, Mrs. Bond phoned the state highway patrol and joined other relatives in a search.
