The Key West appearance will be his only Florida engagement. After the local concert, Lecuona will be presented in New York and then make a South American tour. The composer of more than five hundred musical works, Ernesto Lecurona is perhaps best known for his ‘‘Malaguena,” “‘Siboney,” and “Maria La 0.” _ His compositions typify the best in Latin music, and his ‘Mala- guena” has been performed by all major symphony orchestras in this country and abroad. Also on the two programs will be other outstanding Spanish and Latin artists, and the famed Span- ish classical dancers ‘Los Navar- ros.” Appearing with Lecuona will be Miss Rosaura Biada, Cuban so- prano; Herman Pelayo, Chilean baritone, and Elly Charman, Per- uvian pianist. The two concerts are sponsored by the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Each one is different. Tickets for either concert or for pboth~may be purchased at Betty Ann Stationery, Oriental - Phar- macy, Lou's Radio and Appliance, Overseas Radio or by calling 2- 3787. While the concerts will be dom- inated by Lecuona’s own works, | other numbers will include Dos Canciones, by Stephen Foster; Deep River, Frey’s arrangement; Cancion del Toreador, from Car- men by Bizet; Cavatina from Ros- sini’s Barber of Serville, and Har- delot’s Because. The Lecuona concerts are a chance to hear music of the cali- bre usually heard at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. = GS TROOP 3 CANCELS ALL ACTIVITIES ago after an appearance before a Week’s Sewing Buy Make LIGHT of summer in this sew-easy wonder!
