‘7s PROFITABL 7 Report Due On Anti-Red Work By Pentagon By EDWIN B, HAAKINSON WASHINGTON (®#—Top Penta- gon officials, including Secretary * of the Army Stevens, get a chance today to tell senators what they are doing about Communists and subversives in the military forces. Their appearance before the Senate Armed Services Committee may add fuel to the dispute be- tween Stevens and John Adams, assistant Army counsel on one side and Sen, McCarthy (R-Wis) and Roy Cobn, his chief aide in Red hunting, on the other. McCarthy said last night of that dispute, “I didn’t start the fight but I think maybe I'll have to finish it.” He was speaking at a gathering of the Chicago irish Fellowship Club. He said he didn’t give ‘‘a tink- er’s dam how high or how low people in the Republican or Demo- cratic parties are who are un- happy” about the methods used in what he called his fight to root out Communists and traitors. Chairman Saltonstall (R-Mass) of the Armed Services Committee, in Boston since last weekend, said in advance that the committee session probably would not involve the Stevens-McCarthy feud. A showdown in that fight is sched- wled later before McCarthy’s in- vestigations subcommittee with fen. Mundt (R-SD) presiding. Sen. McClellan (D-Ark), one of the subcommittee members as- signed to make arrangements, said in an interview he sees “only a very slim” chance that the taking of testimony can start next week He said hearings might take 10 days. ; Friends of Rep. Meader (R- subcommittee, said they will boom him for the job of special counsel for the hearings on the McCarthy- Army dispute. Sen. Mundt said last night at a mews conference in Springfield, Mass., that evidence will be turned over to the attorney general for consideration of possible perjury charges “if all the parties con- cerned stick. to the stories they have told.” The subcommittee is in recess until next Tuesday, when it will Teconvene to discuss any arrange- ments made by then for the hear- ings. ‘ Sen. Kefauver (D-Tenn) said in an interview he still believes it Sun Princess! Sew fashion’s Line Divine — the Empire Princess! THE KEY WEST CITIZEN e 0 Thursday, March 18, 1954 was the duty and responsibility of the Armed Services Committee to bring in all participants in the feud, put them under oath for questioning and “find out who is lying.” Sen. Flanders (R-Vt), who re- cently blasted at McCarthy on the Senate floor, said he would oppose any such move by Kefauver be- cause “‘McCarthy’s committee al- ready has taken jurisdiction.” Office aides of another armed Services Committee member, Sen. Hendrickson (R-NJ), said if no one else asked for inquiry by the group he would do so, In addition to Stevens, Secretary of Defense Wilson, Adm. Arthur Radford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Matthew Ridgway, Army chief of staff, were invited as witnesses by the Armed Services Committee, LEGAL NOTICES NOTICE UNDER FICTITIOUS ME LAW NA Notice is Hereby Given that the undersigned, desiring to éngage in business under the fictitious name of Key West Radio & TV Service,” 1001 Simonton Street, Key West, Monroe County, State of “lorida, in- tend to register the said name with the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Monroe County, Florida, WILFRED E. ‘JULIUS, Sole Owner. mar. 4-11-18-25, 1954.
