The loss drops them from the competition and winds up the 1952- 3 basketball season. South Broward, by virtue of last night’s win will ace Redlands to- night there in the second round of the sudden death tourney. It was failure of the Conch shoot- ing eyes to click last night that cost them. the verdict but the work of one Bobby Lodenthal, who drop- ped in a total of 28 points for the evening for the South Broward cause also was a factor. Loden- thal scored 17 of the 27 points the Conch’s opponents managed to garner in the first balf of the con- test. The Conchs held the Browards even for the first quarter but a second period in which they scor- ed but three points coast them the ballgame. The Broward five garnered 12 in the second period) to ice the ballgame when could not get the rolling Elimi : d agers Eliminate against the tight zone defense, Phelan they faced. It was Bob Sawyer, who made jhis last start for Key West last night who supplied the scoring | punch with 11 points while Stu Lo- gun made 10. Sawyer, Aldo Vidal and John Walston played their last game for the Conchs but Coach Win Jones will have nine ball players back next season «round which to build.
