ip oe BLACKWATER ==] Plantation Key Busy With Real Estate Sales BY SUSAN MCAVOY REAL ESTATE EDITOR Key Largo, largest of the Florida Keys, 29 miles in length, has the two largest landowners on the Keys R. E. Crane, who holds 25,000 acres on all the Keys, and Key Farm Land Company. The latter firm holds 6,931 acres on Key Largo alone overshadow- ing even Crane who holds 3,084 acres on the long island. Part of the Crane land is held in the name of Raymond E. Crane, Elger Co., Ford City, Pennsylvania, Part is written in the tax books as merely R. E. Crane et ux. Crane bought most of his Key Largo acreage from the Island Holding Company. The number of owners of pro- perty in Key Largo fill many pages in the tax assessment books. This week only the holdings of the two big owners, Crane and Key Farm Land, were computed a job that took two hours. Next week the other major owners of this booming Key will be listed. Interest in Key Largo has been heightened by the test- ing being done by major oil companies in the area. Sub-divi- sions are springing up and com- mercial buildings are under con- struction. Closer to Key West is Planta- tion Key below Key Largo. Here the big owner is Edwin C. Luns- ford who holds more than 350 acres. Lemberg Development company holds more than 166 acres on Plan- tation.
