Here Three’seperated prowling incidents were reported by police this morning’ in a wave of terrorism in which one man was jailed and. two other nocturnal prowlers es- caped capture. They said that an unidentified | prowler entered the room of a young woman on Caroline Street and ransacked the apartment as she slept. The women, who resides with her roommate in an apartment at 429 Caroline Street, told Lt. Joseph zo that she awakened rtly after 2:00 p. m, by a@ |, slim youth”, who held his hand over her mouth. She said. that when she began fo scream and struggle, the man ran.out the back door and down the stairs. Cerezo said that. the man had gained entrance by cutting a screen ona back «oor. He added that the man had taken the young _lady’s wallet from her purse and left it on a table in another room. There was no moziey in the wal- let and a check was left untouch- The woman said that the man did not attempt to eriminally. at- tack her but this morning she bad a bruise near her right eye. However, a Navy man was jail- ed by police after he allegedly smashed a glass door leading into an apartment at 523 Whitehead Street. Police officer Armando Perez said that when he was patrolling his beat, near Smith Lane, he notice a man coming out of a yard holding his right hand which was badly cut. The man, Francis P. Fritz of the Naval Station, Nor- folk, Virginia, said that he injured it waen he “put it through a door,” He was taken to the city jail ‘and then transferred to the Naval Hospital for treatment. He raises dimpled fists to his face when he yawns. His coordination is good considering the fact’ that for most of his short life he has been a very sick child who went wo months old a result of what physicians think was meningitis. Jasper has no bone be- tween his brain and the outside surface of his head on the right side just above the temple. That Portion of the skull had to be removed because his head began to swell from a tumor on the brain. He's fat and healthy looking, .| weighing over 20 pounds now, although three weeks ago after a stay in the hospital, his backbone showed plainly. He has huge dark eyes and can tell the differ- ence between light and shadow. How much focus is there is diffi- cult to determine, He reaches for things at times. That, and the fact that he has gained weicht and improved in condition has given his mother hope that mavbe something can be done for’ him | although she was told at first that jhe had only a week, or maybe a month at the most, to: live.
