In a completely renovated setting, to the musie of Frankie Mann’s orchestra, arranged and directed by Les Rhode, three su- perb acts were presented to an appreciative and enthusiastically applauding audience. A new tempo in the music was the first thing noticed by this re- porter as couples danced on the new dance floor to Latin and American rhythms. Then my fa- vorite M. C. of all M. C.’s, Les Rhode appeared to direct the orchestra and M. C, the show which opened with Miss Adele Par- rich complete in a ruffled petti- coat, fiddle and rendition of “Tur- key in the Straw.” What followed was an amazing hillbilly strip act that ended with the discarding of the petticoats and bloomers and Miss Parrish emerged like a but- terfly from a chrysalis, a lovely blond charmer in a sparkling blue evening gown. Adele is versatile as well as lovely. She not only did the clever hillbilly number, but charmed with vocalure and then violin music, gypsy as a caravan. Miss Parrish was followed by Al Robinson whose side kick Alkali Ike completely stole the show. Ike does this quite painlessly as Al stays entirely in the background and lets him take over. Of course as Ike says, he can’t say a word when Al is laughing or drank, but as’ Al seems to stick strictly to business, Ike does very well thank you. His rendition of “Trees” is priceless, and the duet of “Sweet Adeline” sidesplitting. Most of his material is ad lib and gathered while sitting at the tables talking to folks he is introduced to. He then proceeds to talk personally to the audience and get away with remarks that his sidekick and buddy, Al would get his head knocked off for saying. All in all we approve of Ike, and also of Al, and intend to see much more of them in the very near future. I was fortunate. to review Les Rhode’s first show in Key West last summer at the Boca Chica Chief's Club at which time I met and heard Ann for the first time. I have been a cap- tivated listener ever since, and was in no way disappointed last night when she sang such favorites of mine as ‘September Song,” ‘Ten- derly” and several Kern selections from “Show Boat” If anything Ann’s talent has increased during the months since I first heard her, or else she’s just plain better than I remembered. The perfect end to a perfect evening came when Al and Ike, Les, and Ann sat at our table and started reminiscing about show business and our brief acquain- tance. Ike had several sidesplitting observances to make, Les was his sweet and genial self, and as the orchestra played ever so softly, Ann leaned across the table and sang sweetly our favorite of fav- orites, “Indian Love Call.” Our best thanks to Ann Dennis of the moonlit voice. We were somewhat disappointed that one of the scheduled acts was unable to make an appear- ance because they had only arrived from Spain and had been unbale to rehearse with the orchestra. They are Angelina and Francisco who will tonight do actual classi- cal Spanish Dances. They are a famous dancing team in their own country and abroad, having play- ed by command of the King and Queen of Greece, Ex-King Farouk, the President of Lebanon and Francisco Franco. They are per- forming for the first time in Ameri- ca when they will appear tonight at Wylk’s and after their engage- ment here will go direct to the Latin Quarter in New York. My disappointment will be short- lived however, as I am invited to return to Wylk’s to see this talented couple, and of course we wouldn’t miss seeing Adele, A: and Little Wooden Head, and the lovely Ann again. For tops in entertainment, I recommend Wylk’s Supper Club. 111 DEBUTANTES MAKE SQCIAL BOW NEW YORK @ — One hundred and eleven debutantes were intro- duced en masse to New York s0- ciety last night, then whirled into a “coming out” waltz and other dances, * The young women, all garbed in white and silver gowns to match the holiday decorations in the Wal- dorf-Astoria Hotel ballroom, were presented at the annual Debutante Cotillion and Christmas Ball, There have been more than 30 sieges of Jerusalem. NEW "SI" Custom. Angelina and Francisco who are opening tonight at the new Wylk's Supper Club are shown above in one of the typical poses of the Classical Spanish Dance they perform so expertly. Angelina, assisted by Francisco have danced by special Command ‘for the King and Queen of Greece, Francisco Franco, the President of Lebanon. Tonight at Wylk’s will be their very first appearance in the United States. From here they will go to Lou Walter's Latin Quarter in New York City where an entire review is being built around their act. Their appearance here is by spcial request, and will introduce them to Americans and American ways. Maylards Return For Key West Winter Stay The J.
