Conner, 47, of Roanoke, Va., spent the night, on the beach with his tearful wife and 10-year- old son in the vain hope that the billfold might wash up on the tide. When the valuable package dropped from his shirt pocket into the ocean, Conner watched it float away while his son raced for a lifeguard. One swimmer got within 20 feet of the billfold before cramps forced him to return to shore. A} Coast Guard boat sped to the scene, but the billfold had disap- peared. Conner, who hopefully gave his address at Rt. 2, Box 326-B, Ro- anoke, said the find could take out whatever he chose as a reward.
