Wolkoff One of the finest examples of old Key West architecture is being sold by its present owner. Mrs. Rita Ovide to Abe Wolkoff for $21,000, if the sale becomes final, Mrs. Ovide said today. The 16 room house with its beau- tiful widow’s walk overlooking the Gulf of Mexico is at Greene and Simonton streets. The plan of buyer Wolkoff is to build some rental garage stalls on the huge 1085 foot by 130 foot lot, and hold on to the valuable land for speculation. Mrs. Ovide said she is selling because the needed renovations would be high and the house is too big for her. The land mark is a structure that has caused much praise from visitors who see it as they go to- | ward the Gulf and view the won- derful old Curry and Sons store- house now owned by A, Maitland Adams, With its high ceilings, double decked porch, and outside stair- }ease, the old house will eventually go down as many of the landmarks have before. Right now Mrs. Ovide | and her sister-in-law and children live in the 16 room house. The grounds which have tropical trees jand shrubs are in themselves ex- | tremely valuable for space and location alone, The huge old house was built back in 1888 or 1889 for Edward Arapian and his bride Harriet Kemp Arapian, aunt of Miss Grace Kemp who now lives in her family mansion at the corner of Caroline and Simonton. Curry and Sons owned the land on which Arapian conducted his sponge business. He had a sponge house on the corner of the lot at Greene and Simonton and. other (Continued On Page Twelve) Effective Nov. 8, 1952 THE FIRM OF Johnson & Curry, Contractors APARTMENTS Accepting Applications Now Furvished and Unfurnished 2 Bedroom Aparimentis FIRST STREET and PATTERSON AVENUE 2a HUGE ACREAGE (Continued From Page Eight have sold for $1,000 to Ida M.
