The Jaycees Teen-Age Roadeo held Sunday afternoon was full of thrills and excitement both for the participants and for the audience, Precision and coordination were displayed in the operation of automobiles and scooters. The event took place at 1 p.m. on a marked course in the rear of the Poinciana Rental Office, with a large crowd of spectators present. Contestants were drawn from the ranks of the Jaycee Youth Safe Driving Club under the direction of State Highway Patrolman M. J. Wilder and Tony Martinez, chair- man of the Youth Welfare Commit- tee of the Jaycees. Highlight of the afternoon’s en- tertainment was a drag or slow race by scooter contestants. In this race, the last scooter to cross the finish line was the winner. Any con- testant who touched the ground with his-foot was disqualified, so that in the last analysis this con- test was almost a balancing act. Another feat of skill was the weaving in and out among boxes set about eight feet apart, again without feet touching the ground. The audience was brought to its} feet by the excitement of the event in which contestants were required to pick a golf ball of the top of a pop bottle without knocking over | the bottle or dropping the ball.
