Page 4 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Saturday, September 20, 1952 Recipes Set Theme | For VX-1 OWC Aeropalms Lunch The VX-1 officers wives monthly luncheon was held at Aeropalms Thursday, September 18. Recipes, a recipe book center- piece, and miniature recipe book! name cards were the theme of! the luncheon. The centerpiece was a cake baked in the form of an open recipe book which was in- scribed VX-1 Cook Book. The name card recipe books con-! ained Mrs. E. W. Parish’s reci- se for cheese straws and Mrs. . Parmelee’s recipes for brown-| es, among others. Crepes Luis French pancakes | with crab meat and cheese sauce, | 1 tossed green salad, and salt! sticks were featured on the menu. The luncheon cémmittee under the chairmanship of Mrs. N. A.| Evans included Mesdames R. M. Carter, Robert Cummings, J. J.) Gentilini and R. C. Gleeson. Mrs W. A. Minaert greeted the wives and guests at the door. Mrs. H.| W. Faxon and Mrs. M. Rumfelt| yerved punch. At a business meeting follow-| ing the luncheon Mrs, Hugh Morri yon was elected new chairman of ‘he VX-1 officers’ wives group to succeed Mrs. K. P. Rehnberg, Jr. Mrs. A. D. Dunstane was elected as the VX-1 representative to the Ft. Taylor O. W. C. advisory board It was announced that the VX-1 wives wil sew for the Navy Relief Thrift Shop at the home of Mrs. J. H. Clare on Wednesday, Septem ber 24. The next luncheon of the group wil be held the third Thursday in October at Aeropalms. Mrs. A. E. Graybill will be chairman of the committee. Mesdames M. E. Hall er, E. E. Hastings, II, D. D. Huck aby and J. H. Engle will serve with her. | Birthdays Celebrated At Trailer Park | Millers Tralier Park was the scene of two birthday parties re cently when two lads who live there celebrated their natal days. ‘The boys were Skipper Quinn who} was six years old September 13 and Bert Miller who became thirteen on September 15. Those present at the Bert Miller party were: Lou, Darrel, Dennis and Roberta Jones, Barbara, Ka- ren and Sharon Roche, Pinkie and Donald Halpins, Melba and Prucie Briggs, Rickie and Bobbie Scott Michel McCoy, Dennis Brown Skipper Quinn, Mary Jo Greene and Glennie Miller. | Hot dogs and drinks were serv ed by Bert's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Miller. The same group was present to, help Skipper Quinn celebrate his birthday with the addition of Sandy Mershon and Steve Poarch. Cake and ice cream were the refresh ments served. All dog track officers and directors are carefully sereened by the Racing Com- mission to make sure that they have no criminal records. All employees are aleo investigated. The Key West Dog Track will have seating capacity for 1.500 people. A mov- able bandshell will be built to permit band concerts, plays and dramatic produc- tions when the track is not in use. The dog track can only operate a maximum of 90 nights» each year, by lew. The State Racing Commission, if requested has suthority to permit at jeast two more nights operation for the benefit of LOCAL CHARITIES.
