It is evident that Jesus thought of his mother in the time of his greatest trial on earth. It has been proven that the lad or lass who loves his mother as children should, will not go far wrong, | Strong attachment to our mothers is one sure guarantee juvenile delinquency. Mothers are peculiar persons. In this day of subterfuge and de- ception they are so natural, While to some love and loyalty and de- votion are alien and impractical qualities in personal relations, the really realistic individual is the one who follows the natural laws against »| of God—the law of love, God is _ love, and this world offers no better illustration than in the | person of a natural mother. It is said that. we live in a cruel! haven’t quite progressed from the old dispensation which said, “an eye ' for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” | Contrasted to such a hard pro- eedure, we can best understand God’s love as: we endeavor to see it in our mothers, Her love is pure and refined gold and is the best scriptural definition of love— it “beareth all things, believeth hopeth all things, en- things . . . love never 2 fails.” Mates, children and friends * | may forsake one for another, i but oot 50. a mother. 3 * | the state of men, ver high or -low, ® | honorable. or disgraceful, in suc- * | cess or failure, in life or death, * | mother’s love remains Se RR RE SS | Te oe a ae oP ae Pr eS. true and enduring. For, that reason love _ indiffereht and + God’s love as manifest strikes a responsive chord, warms the coldest heart, arouses the most calloused ‘con- science to the appreciation of in our _ mothers. Mothers have been the model © for many artists. The beauty and _ the popular +pietures can be acceptance of such accounted for only because mother love arouses the deepest emotions in the hu- man soul. The serious, smiling face of Whistler's “Mother” met popular approval because it opens for us new vistas of beauty and leve found no where else about us. Such emotions seriously stir- red and aroused serve as a guid- ing light in a world of hate and cruelty. Wages For Mother ts Seriton Topic | Of Rev. RAY I DIDN'T STAY FOR CHURCH: I told my Lord I did not need it, I received all the spiritual uplift from Sunday School. I told my class it wasn't necessary to stay for church in order to be the zight kind of a church member. I told my family it would be better to go home and fix Sunday dinner than to stay for church. I told them we would receive a better blessing if we'd go home. I told the stranger and visitor who were coming in the front door that we did not like our church nor our pastor’s preaching. So, we went home after Sunday School. I ‘told God that we had had: enough of Him today. t Select the servie2 thet selects its men—U.S. Marines GRACE LUTHERAN | CHURCH Divine Service at 7:30 P.M. 10TH ST. and FLAGLER AVE.
