They will be formed in- te two mythical parties, the “Fed-. evalists” and the Nationalists” and will elect their own state, county, and municipal officials from the governor down.’ “Roys’ State” is an annual activity of the American Legion wader its Americanism Program! and 8 the Legion's laboratory of | practical applied science. It is net an outing nor is it a picnic but is purely an educational pro- gram. It is an effort by the Legion w — good citizenship and te upon the boys the fact that there is nothing funda- mentally wrong with our system of government, that it has not| @utlived its usefulness, and that what it demands an intelli- gent citizensy and a clean, honest, jal administration. 4 Tallahassee Whitman and Drudge will be associated with truly outstanding boys, and Florida in the past several yearsj has produced boys who became ‘outstanding on a national scale. ; Ba Gong of Miami who was elected “Governor” in 1947 went on the same year to be chosen “President of the United States” at the Legion sponsored National Forum, while in 1948 the “Gov- ermor” was James H. Grant of Qrlapdo who in the same year} won the National Oratorical Cofitest, also a Legion sponsored wity. Legion and Florida are juatly proud of the acomplish- ments of its young citizens and it is certain that the selection of boys like Whitman and Drudge will serve to further the prestige already attained.
