The Trojans, although slightly weakened by the loss of Arman- do Acevedo, their star third base- man, who switched to play with the Raiders, still claim a pow- erful hitting ball club with such stars as R. PLEADS FOR UNITY Editor, The Citizen: In response to a letter appear- ing in your paper last week, I would like to mention that it was stressed that we, “the people of Key West, do not want to repre- {sent Cuba in the parade at Miami |on New Year's Eve.” It must al- so be pointed out that emphasis was put upon the word “Amer- icans.” My point of view, as an indi- vidual, and as part of a group, is obvious and also comprehensible. To do and say such as was men- tioned in that article, is watering the seed of misunderstanding with ignorance. Yes; we are all Americans, or maybe I have mis- conceived the true value of Americans. I thought that Cuba, and all the rest of the Latin Americas were a part of America. Why should the accusing finger be pointed at Key West for repre- senting a part of herself. I pe sonally think that the article w: a direct slap in the face to our good neighbor policy. We know that everyone is en- titled to his or her opinion. That is.a true and fundamental prin- ciple on which this great democ- racy was founded—freedom of speech.
