SAYS, URGING) £°72"0"*_ Application COOPERATION The directors of the Key West Chamber of Commerce, at a special meeting held yesterday, unanimously approved the idea of the Key West Hotel Associa- tion to place signboards adver- tising Key West on the highways of Florida. The approval is subject, how-| ever, a C. of C. news release} seid, to a provision of the spon- sers of this project under which they would obtain all necessary funds for the erection and up- keep of the signs, so that the} latter will continue to be a fa-! vorable advertising medium, An adequate performance bond, the chamber said, should also be re-| quired of the contractor for erec- tion and upkeep. The directors recommended thet the sponsors publish a signed notice of their plans, in- eluding cost of signs, cost of up- keep, manner of obtaining sites, cost of sites, manner of guaran- teeing upkeep and source of revenue. In approving this civic project the directors wished to state that the Key West Chamber of Com- merce will not be legally respon- sible for any obligations or lia- bilities of this project, although the project is heartily recom- as a worthwhile civic project, The directors further decided that inasmuch as the chamber is presently engaged in raising money for an ambitious program of its own, and for which pro- gram a budget has been made, it cannot engage in the solicitation of funds for. other purposes un- il Ws original drive is completed. Marsey, who was fatally in- jured, three months ago, while fishing from an approach to the Conch Key bridge. | Marsey’s left leg was torn off and thrown 70 feet from the place where he had been standing. He was taken to a hospital in Miami, where he died three days later. An inquest’ was begun into his death shortly afterward, but as the chief witness, Ben Borstein, was not present, Solicitor Cleare asked for an adjournment to such time as Borstein could be con- tacted.
