SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 1939 ARMSTRONG WON | BY TECHNICAL KO DEFEATED DAVEY DAY LAST NIGHT AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (Specint to The Citizens sW YORK, April —Hetry Armctrong a technical kneckout over Davey Day last night at Madison Square Garden. The fight was fast and furious. for the first ten rounds. Arm- strong had a cut over his left eye and was bleeding badly. Day was also,cut up and battered. In the twelfth stanza, after two minutes and 30 seconds of fighting. Day went down from a left hook, but got up. Then the referee thought it best to stop the fight and thereby awarded the victory to Armstrong.
