Following the read- ing of the bids, it was ordered that the matter be turned over to a special committee for further | investigation, with the commit- | tee’s report to be made at the next regular meeting of the coun- cil. The committee is composed of William Monsalvatge, Will E. P. Roberts, along with Clarence: Thompson, city electrician. The bids received follow: Llewellyn Machinery Corpora- tion of Miami, $1,587. W. Inc., Miami, Contributes Fund A communication was ‘read from the Board of Public Works ; stating that the board would con- tribute $400 to the $1,500 fund needed to purchase material for the completion and installation of the outfall sewer pipe. It was shown that this was the only fund available for sponsoring projects at this time. The city decided to, furnish the remaining $1,100; needed, with the understanding that the Board of Public Works will contribute further toward the deficit when additional funds become available, cutting down the amount as furnished by the city. i Monsalvatge Resigns At the conclusion of the meet- ing, Councilman Monsalvatge, who became very much displeas- ed with the proceedings of the council in handling the bids for the proposed electric équipment, stating that he had been criticized to some extent in his actions in connection therewith, tendered | his resignation as chairman of the Aquarium Committee to take ef- fect immediately. There was no action taken in the matter as the! councilmen were on the point of adjournment when Mr. Monsal- vatge made the announcement, which came very unexpectedly.
