The miputes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Com- missioner Mullins seconded by Com- missioner Trebilcock were approved by unanimous vote. Dhe matter of the petition of the |’ board of supervisors of the town of Nashwauk for the apportionment be- uween the towns of Nashwauk and the town of Greenway of certain indebtedness of said town of Nash- wauk and was then heard. Attorney Thwing appearing for the Alfred L. petitioners and Senator C. C. Me- Carthy for the town of Greenway. Gommlesioner Trebilcock moved the adopt ion of the following resolution: “Whereas, on and prior to July 13, 1908, the town of Nashwauk in this county, legally comprised all of govern ment townships 56 ad 57, range 22, and 56 and 57,, range 23, amd on said July 13, 1908, pursuant to pro- ceediwes duly had, this board duly set off from said town said govern- ment townships 56-22 and 56-23, as the town of Greenway; and, whereas, ‘the total indebtedness of said town of Nashwauk at the ttime of said di- vision was $10,111,98. Evidenced by legal outstanding orders of said town, and, with accrued imterest thereon, amounts at the present time to $11,- 447,02; and, whereas, the valuations of the property in said respective towns at the time of di- vision were as follows: Nashwauk $6,- 056,010; Greenway, $3,928,491; and, whereas, the supervisors of safid town of Nagbhwauk have petitioned this bowrd that {t apportion paid Gn- debtedness and interest; and whereas it.apped that no such. apportionment has been made; and, whereas, both salid tow have been represented at this etfing : Now, be it resolved, that it seems right and proper that said indebted- ness be awd it #s hereby ‘apportion- ed in praportion to the said assessed valuation of said towns, as follows: To be paid by said town of Nash- wauk $6,904.19; and to be paid by said town of Greenway, $4,506.83; and that the county auditor be and iS hereby gnstructed, author bo and directed to add to the taxes levied on the real and personal preperty of said_ town of Greenwap for the year 1910 an amoui nt to meet the amount apportioned ito said town as afore- sak, same to be a special levy and fund for such purpose.” Phe motion for the adoption of t Resciution was seconded by Commis sioner Mullins and carried by unanim ous vote. The motion was sec onded by Commissioner Trebileock and carried by unanimous vote. A petition was presented’ requést- ing the board to cause to be opened, constructed and put im condition for travel county road No. 67. Upon motion said petition was laid over to the mext meeting for farther consider ation. An adjourrment was then to 1:15 o’clock p. m. Pursuant to adjournment the board again met at 1:15 o’clock p. m. All members of. the voard present. A pevition for the establishment of county road No. 79 was then con- dered and heard. Commissioner Trebilcock moved the resolution: ““Reskived that the petition for the establishment of a certain ro:@i known and, designated’ as counr ty road No. 79 be and the same is of land over which said road runs be and: the same are hereby ansess- ed equal to ‘the damages suittained.” The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner O’- Brien and carried by unanimous vote. A petition for the establishment of a highway to be known and’ designat- ed as County road No. 80 was upon motion of Commissioner O’Brien sec- onded Sy Commissioner Trebilcock rejected by unanimous vote. Commissioner King moved that Wm. Lofisted be sent to the State Sanitorium at Walker for treatment and that. the required charge of $1 per day forj board: and treatment be guaranteed by the county until furth ‘er action iq taken. The motion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien and carried by unanimous vote. A petition was presented for the establishment! of a bighway in town- ships 60, range 25 and 60, range 26. Commilssioner King moved that a hearing be had upon said petition. There was no second to this mot‘on. Commissioner Trebileock then moved that said petition be rejected, whitch motion was seconded by Commission- er Mullins and declared c@rried by the cl . All bids on file for the congtruc- tion of County road No, 74 were re- jected. The maiter of the hearing upon the petition for the establishment of a highway to be knowm and designated as county road No. 90 was then taken up. The undersigned committee appoint- ed by you to examine the proposed establighment of a highway, as stat- ed im the petition, referred to in, your order of appointment made on the 15th day of November, 1910, would respect. fully report that, we met at the time and place designated im your order and proceeded to examine the high- way proposed to be establ'shed, viz: Beginning at the point where coun- ty road No. 52 intersects the range line between townships 53, range 22 and 53, range 23, and running thence south on said range line to ithe south- west corner of lot 9, section 31, town- ship 53, range 22, thence east on sixteenth lime to the North and South quarter line of said sect‘on 31; thence south om said quarter jine to the south quarter post of said section 31, township 53, range 22, and to be con- nected with other roads as follows: County road No. 52 at point of be- ginning ahd Aitkin county road at point of termination, and terminating at South quarter post of section 31, township 53, range 22. The committee appointed to exam- ime tha route of said road filed the following report: To the Board of County Commission- ers of the county of Itasca, Minn. The undersigned committee ap- pointed by you to examine the pro- Posed route of a highway, as stated dn, the petition referred to in your order of aj poilntment made on the 15th day of November, 1910, would respectfully report that we met at the time and place designated in your sald order, and proceeded to examine the highway proposed to be establish- ed, viz: Peginning at the southwest corner of section 15, im township 56, range 27, in said Itascaf county, and run- ning thence in a northerly direction on and along the section line be- tween sections 15 and 16 to the north west corner of Baid section 15 in said township and range, and to be connected with other roads as fol- liows : The state road known @nd designated as state road No. 1 and terminating at the northwest corner of said section 15 in township 56, range 27, in said county. And do fhereby by the opinion of a majority of said comittee recommend that the prayer of the safd petition- ers be granted. Given under our hands this 20th day of December, 1910. Cc. M. A petition was presepied for the establishment of a hignway begin- ning 0 the corner of sections 9, 10, 15 and 16 of township 149 range 27 amd running thence west amd north toi the northeast comer of the SW% of section 12, township 149. range 28, Commissioner King moved that a hearhg be had upow sald petition at, the court house in the village of Grand Rapids on .Tuesday the 7th day of March, 1910, at ten o’clock a. m.; that Commismioners C. M. King, M. O’Brien and Neil Mullins members of this' board be a committee to ex- amine the route of said road ard tha said committee meet at the point of of beginning of said road on Tuesday the 28th day of February, 1910, at 10 o'clock am. for the purpose of ex- amining the route of said road; that said committee make report to this board at the tkme set for hearing upon said petition; further, that sa‘d highway and all proceedings in con- nection with the establishment of the same be known and designated as county road No. 80. The motion was seconded By Commissioner O’- Brien and carried by upamimous vote. Commissioner King moved the ad- option of the following resolution: solved that the amounts of 'bclads ito be furnished by the follow- ing officers for the term beginning on. the finst Monday in January, 1911 be and ithe same dre hereby fixed as follows: County Treasurer, $100,000.00. Coun ty Auditor $3,000.00. Coroner, $1,000. 00. “The motion te adopt the resolu- tion was seconded by Commissioner O’Brien amd carried by unanimous vote. Commissioxer O’Brien moved the | adoption of the following resolution: “xescived that the amount, of bond to be furnished by ithe Registrar of Titles for the germ beginning on the first Monday in January, 1911, be and the same is hereby fixed in the sum of $2,500.00.” The motion was second ed by Commissioner Trebiicock and carried by unaniomus vate. Upon motion of Commissioner O*% e | Brien, seconded by Commissioner Tre bileock the bouds of the following county officers were approved b unanimos vate: treasurer wiih Gin! Strader as principal and Whe National ‘Surety company as surety in the sum of $100,000,00. Reg- ister of Deeds with ©. J. McGowan as principal and the American, Surety company of New York as surety in the sum of $5,000.00. Judge of Pro- bate with Clarence B. Webster as principal and the National Surety cor pany as surety im the sum of $1,- 00.00. Sherfff with Thos. T. Riley as principal and the American Surety becmipany of New York as surety in the sum of $5,000.00; County surveyor with Johy A. Brown as principal and W. C. Gilbert and B. C. Fimmegam as sureties in the sum of $500.00. Commissiomer King moved that the chairman appoint a committee of four to meet with the committee of the Koochiching county board to make as settlement between the two counties. Said committee to meet at the court house, Grand Rapids, on a date t») be agreed upon between the 12th and 17th of Japuary, 1911, The} motion was seconded by Commission- er O'Brien and carried by unanimous vote. Chairman McWilliams then appoint- ed Commissioners King, O’Brien and Mallins and County Auditor Spang as such committee. Commissioner O’Brien moved the adoption of the following resolution: “Whereas, certain matters relating to the collection of the amount due Itasca county from the county of | Koochiching upon the division of the county of Itasca apd the organization of the county of Koochiching, are still unsettled, and certain claims exist in the favor of the county of Itasca against the Metropolitan surety company of New York, and) the Na- tional Surety company of New York for any shortage existing on the bonds of Arthur A. Kremer, ex-coumty treasurer Of said county. And, where as, the said matters are still unset- tlesl and unsatisfied, and whereas, Frank F. Price, county attorney of sa‘ county is familiar with all the facts in the case amd better aible to. secure an adjustment of the same with the county of Koochiching and the vespective bonding companies before referred to: And whereas, the said Frank F, Price is ajbout *o retire from the office of county at- terney, om the first day of January, A. D., 1911, amd whereas the board of County Commissioners deem it advisaible to retain the services of the said Frank F. Price after the first jday of January, A. D., 1911, for the @urpose cf adjusting the claims of Itasca county aga‘nst the county of Koochiching and the Metropol'‘tan Bonding company of New York ard the National Surety company of New York and for the purpose of looking after the interests of sa‘d | county in reference to certain se- eureties now ‘held iby Charles E. Aiken as receiver appointed by order of the district court. Now therefore, be it resolved. That the services of Frank F. Price | @ attorney at law be and the same are hereby retained by this board to act. attorney for the county of Ktasicca for the purpose of effecting an adjustment and settlement be- tween the county of Itasca and the county of Kooch‘ching, and also be- tween the coumty of Itasca and the Metropolitian Surety company and National Surety company both of New. York. Be it further resolved that the said Frank F. Price be paid the sum of $15 per day for ali time actually expended im the settlement and adjusting of said matters and that in addition thereto the said Frank F. Price be reimbursed ail moneys actually expended by him in expenses in any way connected with said matters.”” The motion to adapt the resolution was seconded by Commissioner King and carried by unamimous vote. Commissioner Trebilcock moved that. relief in the sum of $25.00 per month be allowed to Mrs. Clara Mc- Kibby and fagnily and that relief in| the sum: of) 615.00 per month be al- lowed the Elj family. Said allow- ance to remain in force until further action is taken by ‘this board and that the county auditor be authorized and instructed to issue warrants {monthly for payment of said relict.
