A meeting of the Cohasset Com- mericial club was held Saturday evening and the matter of the bridge tax accross the Mississippi river to connect South Cohasset to the main portion of the village was taken up. The contract was let some time ago and many have pur- chased lots and erected residences on the strength of the fact the cons tract was let. If the bridge is not put in thie fall, it will work a hard- ship On many, as they will either be compelled to remain isolated from the main part of the village during the winter or else move elsewhere, as there are no vacant residences in the village. A committee was also appointed to confer with the directions of school district No. 1 regarding the erection of the new school house at Cohasset. Challenge Grand Rapids Clerks. Cohasset has a new base ball organization, known as the Cohas- set Clerks’ base ball team and it was formed for the purpose of taking the wind out of the clerks’ team at Grand Rapids. The Cohasset clerks challenge the Grand Rapids clerks to a game tobe played at Cohasset, the losers to pay fora chicken supper, and they are con- fident of success. The Cohasset base ball team was victorious in another contest Sun- day, defeating the Grand Rapids Tigers by ascorue of 5to4. The game was a hardfought one and there was an enthusiastic crowd present. The batteries were Brac- kett and Vashaw for Cohasset and Lofberg and Romans for Tigers. Vail, who has been spending the summer with relatives here re- turned to his home at Seaman, Ohio, Sunday, Virgil Fletcher, who has been visit- ing relatives at Red Lake Falls for the past three months; returned home Tuesday. A large number of the villagers participated in an excursion trip on the steamer, Undine, to Pokegama Jake Sunday. A jolly time is report- ed. Special services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal church Sunday afternoon at 2;30 o’cluck. Presiding Elder Copper, of Duluth, will be pre. sent and all are urged to attend. Finley O’Brien, son of County Com- missioner Morris O’Brien, was taken to St. Benedict’s hospital Friday with an attack of typhoid fever. He is reported to be getting along nice- ly. Construction work on the Wm. Smith pool and billiard ball building was temporarily suspended Monday on account of lack of lumber. Dunn & Marcio received a car yesterday and the carpenters are again pound- ing the wire. Johu Nelson, who was taken to St. Luke’s hospital at Duluth abcut ten days ago with an attack of typhoid fever, returned home Monday even- ing and is now able to be around again.
